01Why does regular hand sanitizer damage your skin?
Alcohol doesn’t just kill germs. It dissolves the lipids that hold your skin barrier together. Every use strips a little more, water escapes through the gaps, and the barrier breaks down. For people who sanitize all day, that shows up as dryness, cracking, and irritation. Most sanitizers do nothing to put back what the alcohol takes out.
02Does adding skincare make it less effective at killing germs?
No. MEND+ meets the same CDC standard as any clinical sanitizer, 60%+ ethyl alcohol that kills 99.9% of germs. The alcohol does the sanitizing at full strength. The barrier support works alongside it, not instead of it. You’re not trading effectiveness for comfort.
03What is OleoShield™, and what’s actually in the formula?
OleoShield™ is our barrier-supporting complex, anchored on safflower oleosomes. Oleosomes are botanical oil bodies that release skin-conditioning lipids slowly as you use the product, alongside niacinamide and beta glucan, two well-studied ingredients for skin barrier support and hydration. It’s built in next to the alcohol, so your skin gets support while your hands get clean.
04How is MEND+ different from other hand sanitizers?
Mass-market sanitizer gels and sprays are built for one thing, killing germs, and they strip skin in the process. Premium sanitizers made the experience look and smell better, but the formula underneath is still standard ethyl alcohol with fragrance and additives. Neither is designed to support the skin barrier, which matters most for hands that are sensitive or prone to eczema. If your skin is reactive, patch-test first, the same as you would with any new product.
